Telstra to showcase the future of sports production at IBC2026

As demand for live sports content continues to expand beyond traditional tier-one events, broadcasters and rights holders are seeking more cost-effective ways to produce, distribute and monetise content from regional, emerging and lower-tier competitions.

At IBC2026, Mark Strachan, Chief Product Officer at Telstra Broadcast Services, will explore how new approaches to connectivity, remote production and software-defined media workflows are helping the industry unlock new opportunities for growth during his session: "Hybrid Delivery for Content Everywhere: One Managed Service Across Every Path."

Taking place on 13 September, the presentation will examine how broadcasters can simplify operations, reduce infrastructure costs and extend their reach by combining traditional and IP-based delivery models. The session will also highlight the growing role of managed connectivity solutions in enabling live production from virtually anywhere - including new opportunities to support virtual advertising and more flexible, market-specific commercial models.

The topic reflects Telstra Broadcast Services' continued investment in solutions such as Telstra Dynamic Connect, a fully managed, software-defined connectivity platform currently available across Australia. Telstra Dynamic Connect enables content owners, broadcasters and sporting organisations to deliver live content from fixed venues and remote locations using combinations of fibre, internet, satellite and 5G connectivity. Designed for broadcast-grade performance at the edge, the platform combines connectivity with access to Telstra's edge compute ecosystem, enabling low-latency, secure and scalable production workflows closer to where content is created. This helps customers simplify live production, deploy services more rapidly, and expand coverage to more venues while maintaining broadcast-grade reliability.

"As the economics of live production continue to evolve, the industry needs new ways to connect, produce and distribute content," said Mark Strachan. "We're seeing growing demand from broadcasters and sports organisations looking to expand coverage, reach new audiences and support new business models without the cost and complexity traditionally associated with live broadcast infrastructure."

Partnering for the future of connected sports production

As interest in more flexible and cost-effective production models grows globally, Telstra is exploring opportunities to extend the Telstra Dynamic Connect model internationally. Achieving that vision will require collaboration across the media ecosystem, and IBC provides an ideal opportunity to meet with broadcasters, venue operators, technology providers, systems integrators and connectivity partners interested in helping shape the next generation of globally connected sports production.
