Telstra International Product Team speaks at ITW Conference 2010

The conference is a key event for the international telecoms wholesale community - each year over 4,000 delegates from nearly 1,300 companies and from over 130 countries meet in Washington DC to buy and sell both voice and data products and services. ITW is an event for the entire industry with participants from all areas of the wholesale industry: Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 carriers, mobile/wireless operators, ISPs, VoIP providers and technology partners from the voice, data, satellite, sub-sea and fixed line markets.

Gina Nomellini, General Manager, Global Products for Telstra International is responsible for Telstra International’s full suite of global products, overseeing the marketing and development of all regional and global services to meet the rapidly changing and sophisticated needs of multinational enterprise and service provider customers.

Will Hughs is Senior Vice President, Product and Design for Telstra International’s US subsidiary, Telstra Incorporated. Will is responsible for Telstra’s product, marketing, engineering and commercial functions for the US region. As SVP, Product and Design, Will works with Telstra International’s Global Product teams to localize product sets and solutions for the US Service Provider and Enterprise markets.

Gina is on the panel: Collaborating with the competition: How Ethernet NNIs enable network growth. Some of the points of interest the panel will discuss include:

  • Using NNIs to allow network providers to extend networks beyond the core: providing global end-to-end services
  • Identifying which partners to work with; choosing the optimum partner; key drivers
  • Analysing which opportunities drive end-to-end management vs global management of different providers

Will is on the panel: Wholesale market opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region, where the key issues to be discussed include:

  • Current shape of competition and implications for the future development of the Asia-Pacific wholesale marketplace; anticipated consolidation – will there ever be a pan-Asian operator?
  • Impact of large enterprises which are buying and building their own networks and services in the market
  • Are global carriers focusing on their core business rather than expanding into new markets? Does this create a new opportunity for local/regional carriers?
  • Capitalising on growing demand for rich-media services
  • New market opportunities: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia
