Private hospital group, Ramsay Health Care UK, has selected Telstra International to support its communications and connectivity requirements, enabling the company to maintain its excellence in hospital management and patient care through state-of-the-art network technology.
Telstra International will help support Ramsay Health Care UK’s premium services by providing an advanced Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network which can deliver highly developed service applications such as the transmission of radiology image packs, as well as enable the sharing of real-time, integrated information between medical teams.
Ramsay Health Care UK operates over a network of 40 sites and 23 acute facilities in England. In 2004 it signed the largest public sector care contract ever awarded to a private healthcare provider in the UK, which has seen 95,000 NHS patients treated in its specialist centres over five years. Additionally, the company recently launched a ‘Premium Care’ package, an innovative healthcare offering solely for private patients.
Ramsay Health Care UK IT Director, Mr Andrew Till, said that IT delivery was vitally important to the continued quality of its innovative health care services.

The UK partnership follows on from the long-term relationship Ramsay Health Care UK’s parent company has enjoyed with Telstra Corporation providing domestic business communication services in Australia.
In addition to supporting advanced applications, Telstra International’s MPLS network will provide fast, reliable and secure connections between the organisation’s hospitals and treatment centres across the UK. The MPLS solution can also be scaled across the UK and Europe, quickly and cost-effectively, as the company continues to grow in line with business plans.
