Reachout - the latest news, views and analysis from Telstra International |

Welcome from Drew
Welcome to the second edition of our online monthly newsletter, Reachout.
This month has seen a number of exciting developments for us. Telstra has undergone a structural change meaning that for the first time all our international assets and expertise will be in a single business unit. This will make it easier for us to execute on our core strategies and most importantly, to serve our customers. The restructure signals not only our commitment in these markets, but also to ongoing investments in our global reach and capacity. The global recession has had an extensive impact on both companies and economies worldwide, but our financial strength and stability means we can continue to make those significant long term investments which ensure we deliver world-leading solutions to our customers.
December is always a good time for reflection and celebration. This year we have enjoyed many successes and I thank you for your contribution. Some of our key successes include significant network investment with the development of the Asia America Gateway, a new data centre has been built in the UK resulting in hosting expansion, and we are now a world-leading Ethernet provider as a result of product development in our Ethernet capability. We’ve set a high standard that we intend to top in the coming year.
On behalf of Telstra International I’d like to wish you seasons greetings; we look forward to working with you towards a successful 2010 and beyond.

Global network expansion enhances performance, reliability and diversity
Telstra’s global network capabilities have been strengthened through continued investment in 2009. November saw the opening of the Asia America Gateway – the first direct single cable connection between South East Asia and the US. In addition, Telstra also announced partnerships with COLT in Europe and IS in South Africa, meaning Telstra can deliver greater connectivity to these areas. Telstra’s presence in Asia has also been expanded with the addition of new infrastructure in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia, further consolidating Telstra’s leadership as a regional specialist carrier in Asia with a global reach.
